Brody: running awayMature

Lazarus found me in one of the bars two nights ago - I was busy chatting up some girl at the bar, and she was nearly drunk enough to let me at least feed from here, even if I couldn't fuck her. Well, I could but y'know, this isn't my territory. I'm here to ask a favour of the pack, not to piss them off by treating their humans the way I usually end up treating them.

Anyways, I was about to take this chick outside and of course, I'd been watched the whole time, hadn't I? Lazarus pushed his way through the people over to us and kissed me on the cheek, earning us this disgusted look from the chick, who promptly fucked off somewhere else.

"You made my dinner run away," I whine quietly, but he just chuckles, his pale blue eyes sparkling in the neon lights.

"So it would seem. Why're you here, Brody?" he asked.

"I kind of got chased out of town by some rather angry wolves." He arched an eyebrow at me, prompting me to continue. "Well, since my dinner's run off, shall we?" I gestured over at the doors and he nodded. "I might have been warned to stay away from one of the pack. And I might have not listened. And the alpha might have threatened to rip my throat out if he went home smelling of vampire."

"And they came over to rip your throat out?" he laughed. I nodded. "Don't tell me. You need somewhere to stay and someone to watch your back?"

"C'mon, man, you know how well I do in a fight. I can be as cocky as I like, but it won't keep my throat intact." He smiled and put an arm around me walking me back to his place.

We have this kind of arrangement thing going on. The vampire gets to feed and have shelter and protection in exchange for favours. Usually they're sexual favours. This is how I learned to bottom without a fuss. I'd say it's almost a reverse of Fate and Brendon's fucked up relationship, only mine's with the whole pack, and I actually get something out of it. And they're not assholes to me.

Most of the time.

I sit watching Fate from the roof as he tries to make his alpha listen to him, glancing across at the other roof occasionally, where Lazarus is sat, flanked by a couple of other wolves. I can smell the others hiding elsewhere, their familiar scent filling the air, as well as shrouding me in doggy stink.

"Gen, please. It's not like I can do anything with him now he's here anyway," Fate's voice reaches us and I look back down at them.

Gen kind of scowls at him, "We're not leaving, Fate. Not until your precious little vampire's dead." Well, that's comforting.

"C'mon, please," he continues, but he's met with another scowl. Each time he pleads with her, she bluntly refuses. C'mon, Fate, you can do better than that, right? Eventually, Lazarus jumps down, landing neatly a few metres from them. He walks over, a deadly serious look on his face.

"You have exactly ten seconds to get your pack off our land before we get nasty."

"We're not on your land," Gen says, pulling out the bitch face.

"The borders are included in our territory, y'know. Just in case you forgot that." Next to me, one of the wolves is keeping an eye on his wristwatch, counting down the ten seconds that Lazarus gave them to get the fuck out. Gen's bitch face doesn't fall.

"Five seconds," Lazarus says calmly. When none of Fate's pack move, Lazarus' pack starts to close in on them. All of them are ready for a fight. I can taste the tension in the air. And the pheromones. Nice.

Lazarus counts down quietly, and when he gets down to ‘one', I dive down from where I'm sat on the roof, grab Fate and run away from the fight. A couple of the younger wolves try to follow, but I run as fast as my body can cope with, out stripping them with ease. They fall back and I lose them pretty quick.

"What are you doing?" I hear Fate ask, but I'm too intent on getting as far away as I can to reply. By the time I stop, we're about three towns away, ish. I like this town. No wolves, and very few vampires hanging around causing chaos. "Well?"

"I dunno," I mutter, out of breath. I put him down and push my hair out of my eyes, trying to come up with a better reason than that. But I don't know. I wasn't thinking.

"You know I have to go back, right?" I grab his wrist kinda tight.

"I don't want you to get hurt," I blurt out.

"I can't just sit around when they could be getting killed." I bite down on my lip. "They should be fine, though, right? I mean, they've got Theo. Theo's a pureblood. A really old pureblood..."

"Depends on how your pack fights. Lazarus' pack only want to make it clear they're not welcome and that they'll fight if they have to," I mutter. But if Fate's pack fight back with the intent to hurt or kill the other wolves, things could turn out a lot more bloody.

He shakes his head, "I have to go back." I feel my face fall a little, but I try not to let it show. C'mon, Brody. What happened to not getting attached, huh?
