I look up at the tree. It looks pretty strong. I take off my boots and link them together. I prefer to climb barefoot. It makes it easier. I swing myself onto the lowest branch and begin to make my way upward.  I stay closer to the trunk where the branches are stronger. Finally, I reach a good height. Fitting an arrow to my bow, I wait for my quarry to come into sight. The bushes part and Cor walks out into the clearing. I train my arrow on him. Suddenly, there is a flurry of motion and Cor tossed something to the ground. He turns to the side. "Good work, Ema. Joanne, you need to practice a bit more." Irritated, I drop to the ground and examine what Cor had thrown. Sure enough, they were needles. He had caught them in midair. Ema steps out from the trees. "Thank you, sir." She picks up the needles and puts them in her pouch. I start to walk away.

"Joanne, don't let your emotions get the better of you."

I ignore Cor's warning and walk toward the arena. I heard that they are doing a couple of matches today and I might get the chance to see a few. As I get closer I hear someone in the courtyard. I find a tree and climb into it so I can see without being seen. I pull an arrow out of my quiver just in case.

The End
