Aiden: Setting Off

I was sat on the roof of my house next to Princess Lillia's castle, when the sky suddenly darkened and clouds moved in. The sky was almost a deep plum purple withe splashes of navy blue dashed across, almost like paint on a canvas. Like a sixth sense, I knew something was wrong. I clambered through the window, ran downstairs and sprinted towards the castle.

When I got there, my gut told me that I needed to go to Lills' room. I ran through the multiple corridors, with the big pillars and royal colours, until I got to Lillia's bebroom. I opened door and tiptoed in, to find her asleep on her fou-poster bed, surrounded by people. There was doctors, families and many other people which I didn't know. I went up to the bed, as people parted to let me through. Oh, God. Lillia looked as though the colour had been drained from her whole body. She looked extremely pale, with dark circles under her eyes, and her arms were by her sides, her whole body looking limp and thin. A  doctor came up to me, and touched my arm in a comforting way.

"I'm sorry, Aiden is it? Yes, Princess Lillia had a very rare disease. It has yet to be named as there was only 2 people who had it previously." He spoke in a way that made me feel about 10.

"Well, what happened to them?" I asked.

"This was something I was not going to tell you, but seeing as you asked: the people died." I stifled a gasp - my girlfriend could die!

"What can I do? I'll do anything, I swear, I'd risk my life for Lills!" I almost shouted.

"There is only one thing you need to do... Collect the blossom of the rare Black Sakura tree. It doesn't grow in this country and you will need to learn some... erm... I guess you'd call it supernatural or fantasy-like. The Princess has requested that her best friend Rosie, and you go on a quest to find it. Rosie has gone to find you. Good luck."

I was so shocked I was silent. My lover could die any second. I had to do something supernatural to save her. I had to go with my worst enemy, Rosie. Oh God. Just then, Rosie burst into the room.

"Aiden! Lills is severly ill, we ha--"

"I know." I cut her off. "Lets go pack a rugsack each." I walked off, leaving her stood there.

After packing all the essentials, like rope, matches, kindling and fire lighter. With other things as well of course. I went up to Lills' room again to say goodbye. She was awake, stood by the window, alone.

"Hey beautiful." I said.

"Aiden! It's so good to see you!" She threw her arms around me, as I held her in my arms.

"I sure hope that disease isn't contagious!" I joked.

"Haha, no it's not!" She said, then burst into a coughing fit. I patted her on the back and 'shushed' her for a while until she'd calmed down. I looked at my watch. It was 1pm, time Rosie and I had decided to meet up.

"Honey, I have to go, now." I smiled at her, then pulled her into a passionate kiss. She deepened it, and I willingly let her, until Rosie crashed into the room.

"Aiden! Com-- Oops, sorry Lillia!" She gave me a death stare whilst grinning at Lills.

We both said out goodbye's and set off down the country lane, sun shining, blue sky. It was almost perfect, apart from the reason why we were going. That was the start of the Great Adventure.

The End
