Cara: The Art ShowMature

"Oh my god second year is crazy." Anna laughed at me from my computer screen and I could  hear Megan chuckling in the background. "No seriously. I should've run off to America like you guys."

"Hey, you know we're working too right? Megan's got an internship with the Police and I'm working really hard at Uni. And I got that job I went for!"

"Jeez it's been a good month and a half for you guys huh?"

"Yes. I love it here. I mean I miss you guys so much but America is amazing. Seriously."

"I wish we could visit you."

"You should!"

"Yes because it's so easy to afford." I rolled my eyes. "We'll just have to settle for skype conversations."

"Ugh, fine." Anna rolled her eyes. "So you've got that art show tonight right?"

"Yeah." I sighed, rubbing my hands on my jeans nervously. "I have to start getting ready soon."

Megan appeared on the screen, jumping on to the bed Anna was sitting on. Anna squealed and they snuggled up together, laughing.

"Hey Cara." Megan grinned.

"Hey Megan, you look happy."

"Very," She grinned and kissed Anna's cheek.

"Good." There was a knock on my door. "Come in!" Ali appeared, rubbing her tummy.

"Cara are you... oh hi guys!" She grinned and came over to sit on my bed. "How's it going?"

"Really good!" Anna grinned. "Ali your belly bump!"

"I know, I'm huge."

"You're not huge." I chastised her. "You're pregnant."

"At least I'm not throwing up any more."

"That is a bonus." I laughed.

"So, any names yet?" Anna asked.

"Not yet. I think we're just going to wait until the birth."

"Huh, okay. Not going to find out what Blip is?"

"Nope. We're going gender neutral over here."

"Anna I swear, I've never seen so many baby outfits in my life. Jak's mum has reached Grandmother level and is sending stuff every time she's been shopping."

"That sounds adorable." Anna simpered.

"Downstairs is now a music slash baby room."

"Not usually two things that mix." Megan chuckled.

"No." I chuckled. "Okay, so I have to start getting ready, but you guys can stay chatting if you want."

"I want to hear about all the baby stuff. Can you show us?" Anna asked. Ali nodded and I rolled my eyes.

"I'll let you get on with that." I grabbed my shower stuff and dressing gown. "I'm going for a shower."

They were still talking when I returned. Ali had boxes of baby stuff with her that she'd brought from her room to show the girls. I smiled at them as I got ready, curling my hair which now reached below my shoulders, in to waves.

"What's the outfit then?" Anna asked as Ali turned the laptop towards me. "Let me see."

"Let me do my makeup first. I don't want to get it all over."

"Putting a lot of effort in aren't we?" Anna smirked.

"Well I have to look at least something like the pictures." I shrugged, ignoring the churning of my stomach.

"Who knows, you might meet a gorgeous business person looking for an amazing piece of art and end up giving them a floor show." Ali giggled.

I shook my head and smiled a little, but paid attention to making my eyelashes dark and large.

"So how is the old ticker?" Anna asked. "Better?"

"The same." I shrugged as if it didn't bother me.

"Did she answer your letter?"

Ali shook her head a little too late in an attempt to divert the conversation. I shrugged.

"Kind of."

"What did she say?" Megan asked.

"She didn't say anything. Her receptionist called to say that I should arrange a time to pick up my post, because apparently some of it is still being delivered. And I left my necklace there."

"That's harsh."

I shrugged and returned to the mirror, taking a deep breath. No way in hell was I falling apart again.

"Okay, you're pretty." Ali said. "Go get dressed so they can see."

"Fine." I rolled my eyes, putting the eyeliner down. I went to the wardrobe and slipped in to my black jumpsuit behind the door. When I appeared I heard whoops from the screen.

"Check you out hot stuff!" Anna grinned. "You look amazing."

"Thanks." I slipped my hands in to the pockets and looked down at myself. The fitted smart black jumpsuit hugged every curve, and the small triangle cut out at the top meant you could see a little of my chest. It was sexy but reserved at the same time and I loved it. I slipped on my black heels and twirled.

"Aren't you going to freeze?" Megan asked.

"Alright we know it's warm there, shush." I laughed. "I have a blazer and Liam and I are getting a taxi."

"You're going to have so much fun." Anna clapped.

"Speaking of Liam, I'll go check to see if he's ready for you." Ali said. "See you guys later!"

"Bye Al!" They chorused as she left the room.

"So how're you really feeling?" Anna asked once the door was shut.

"Nervous as hell." I admitted.

"Well, for one thing, I'm going to be blown up larger than life in most of these paintings. For another people are buying, kind of, me. And also.... what if she's there?"

"Cara you can't spend your life going 'what if'."

"I know that dummy. I'm just saying... I wouldn't know how to be around her knowing that she hates me."

"I don't think she hates you Cara. She's hurt but she doesn't hate you."

I sighed and shrugged.

"If you say so. I've got to get going. Talk to you soon okay? Be safe out there."

"Will do. Have fun tonight; don't spend the whole thing worrying."

"Okay." I nodded. "Bye!"

"Bye! We love you!"

"Love you guys too."

I signed off and gathered my clutch, then went downstairs to wait for Liam.
