Cara: Sober Night OutMature

I heard Liam mutter 'shit' next to me and immediately took his arm.

"Come on, don't let her bother you."

Amanda however seemed to have spotted us, and marched over as fast as she could without walking in a straight line.

"YOU! I knew it. KNEW IT. Look at you both!" She screeched, pointing at Liam and I.

"Leave us alone Amanda."

I'd had enough of Amanda, and her screeching, red drunken face.

"Come on." I urged Liam forward to where the bouncers were taking Anna and Megan's ID's as they shot nervous looks at us.

"YOU CAN'T LET THEM IN! WHY CAN'T I GO IN???" She screamed as the bouncers hurried us away from the loon.

"Sorry C." Liam murmured as we paid.

"Not your fault." I shrugged. "Crazy bitch."

We went inside, thankful that Amanda couldn't follow us, and gathered with the others at the bar. I ordered a lemonade, which Liam kindly got for me, and then we found a booth and sat, drinking, and watching people dancing on the floor. I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of being tired, feeling heavy, but it was confined to my chest. I guess it was too fast, or too soon or something, but I really didn't feel up for this all of a sudden. So when Anna and Megan stood up to dance and tried to drag everyone with them, I declined.

"I think I'm going to take it easy!" I yelled over the music. "Give me a bit of time!"

"Okay!" Anna nodded as Megan dragged her in to the crowd.

"You alright?" Liam murmured.

"I hurt." I winced, taking a deep breath to try and get rid of the weight on my chest.

"Is it your kidneys?" He asked, looking concerned and taking my hand.

"No... no. It's... emotional." I admitted, rubbing my chest and breathing hard again.

"Oh. Cara..." He said as the others went to join Anna and Megan. "... look, it will get easier I promise."

"Will it? Because I can't see it ever getting better." I replied.

"It will. I promise." He wrapped an arm around me and I hid my head in his shoulder.

"I'm sorry. For being a buzz kill. This is supposed to be fun."

"It wouldn't be fun without you."

"It would. You wouldn't be looking after me."

"No I'd be looking after someone who drank too much, or drinking too much myself. Trust me, talking to you is much more fun."

I smiled and kissed him gently on the cheek.

"Thank you Liam. Come on, lets go dance."

"Are you sure?"

"Might as well I guess."

"Well let me know if you need to sit." He said, standing and helping me out of the booth.

We danced at the edge of the floor so I wouldn't get hurt, or shoved, and managed a couple of songs before I felt like it might be a good idea to have another drink, and a sit down. I looked around for the others and saw everyone but Anna and Megan. When Jak came over I asked where they'd gone.

"Don't know. They went about ten minutes ago. Bet they're doing it in the toilets." He snickered.

"You know that language will have to go when Blip is born right?"

"I know. Best parenting behaviour. I promise." He smiled and went to get me a drink.

I sighed and leant against the booth. I felt like sleeping.

"Hi!" I opened my eyes and looked up at the guy standing in front of me. I waved at him cautiously. I didn't recognise him. "You want to dance?"

"I'm a little worn out." I replied.

"Let me buy you a drink then." He smiled.

"My friend's just gone to do that."

"Shame. Well how about we have a nice chat while you drink that drink?"

"No, I'm fine thanks-"

"Buddy, back off. She's with me." Liam voiced up. The guy glanced at him and seemed to decide it was best not to argue. He shrugged and disappeared in to the crowd of dancers.

"Thank you." I murmured to Liam, my eyes feeling kind of heavy. Jak brough my drink over and slammed it on the table a little louder than necessary. "Jesus! Jak..." I complained, waking up a little."

"Sorry." He muttered and sat down.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Jak..." I frowned. He looked like he wanted to hurt someone.

"I just met Lexy at the bar. She was talking about you."

"Oh..." I murmured, only too sure what she was saying. "So.. what did you say?"

"I told her that she shouldn't be sticking her nose in, and that the only people who had the right to argue about you and Sam were you and Sam."

"Why was she arguing?" I said, gulping back the pain that rose at Sam's name.

He looked guilty.

"Apparently her and Myra had a fall out over you and Sam."

"Because Myra thinks you were going through a lot and are basically a decent person who made a mistake, and Lexy thinks you're a bitch."

"So she was ranting to Sam about-" He stopped.

"Sam's here?" I breathed.

He shrugged, unwilling to look at me.

"Are you alright?" Liam asked.

"I want to go home." I said, "Now."

"Sure, I'll come."

"No it's fine, I'll just get a taxi-"

"Cara.  I'm coming. Jak, tell the others Cara needs to sleep will you? Don't tell them about this."

"Okay." He said. "Sorry Cara,  I-"

"It's okay." I replied and stood, following Liam out of the booth. "See you tomorrow. Have fun. Tell them I'm sorry." Liam and I hurried out. We'd only been in the club and hour and a half, but I was almost dragging my feet in exhaustion. I didn't want to be confronted with  Sam, especially when she was apparently discussing our break up over drinks.

When we finally got a taxi and had gotten home, Liam helped me upstairs.

"Sorry for ruining your night." I murmured.

"I'll consider it pay back for when I got that bug." He smiled. "Night Cara. Don't worry. Tomorrow is another day."

The End
