I stroked Sam's cheek as everyone around me clapped, or in Lexi's case wolf-whistled, and blushed as she took my hand and kissed it gently.
"That was beautiful." She murmured as the band began to move around us.
"When the inspiration's right..." I replied.
"I'm feeling inspired." She said, stroking her fingers along my forearm.
"Sure you are." I smiled. "I have some more songs to sing."
"Then I'd better go and find someone to dance with."
"Just as long as they're not sexier than me."
"No one here is sexier than you." She assured, kissing my cheek.
"Here?" I raised an eyebrow, teasing.
"Here. There. Everywhere..." She grinned, eyes roving down my outfit. I gave her a poke and stuck my tongue out, shooing her from the stage. She disappeared in to the crowd, Lexi and Myra immediately monopolising her. Lexi's face was serious and I knew immediately that she was asking Sam how she felt, about her mother. Sam shook her head, she didn't want to talk, and then the music started and I had to concentrate.
I sang a couple of songs, mainly about love but more upbeat than the one I'd written. As soon as I'd finished I hurried down the steps and grabbed Sam. As the jazz band returned to the stage and started up I stole her away from everyone and took her in to her office.
"What's going on?" She asked as I stopped, grinning, my fingers entwined in hers.
"Is everything to your satisfaction?" I asked, eyebrow raised and my grin stupidly large. Boss?" I added as an afterthought.
She chuckled and took a step towards me, pushing me back with the closeness so that we were against the wall, our fingers still entwined and level with my shoulders.
"Everything is excellent." She kissed me gently and I smiled.
"Good." I bit my lip and looked down at her. "You know I'm finding this whole thing very sexy. You look..." I chewed on my lip "... and I can get to you so easily like this..." I teased, slipping my hands out of hers and running my middle finger gently against the line of waistcoat vs skin. She smiled, capturing my hand.
"We have guests."
"I'm sure they'd understand." I smirked, raising an eyebrow. "After all, I'm just getting so hot in this..." I ran a finger of my free hand over my chest and rolled my head to the side.
"I'm not going to do this with everyone just on the other side of the door Cara." She smirked as I peeked back at her.
"Because I like to keep your... appreciation to myself."
"Yes." She grinned. "Besides... Cara... what are you doing?"
"Mmm?" I looked up from her chest which I'd just been kissing. "I'm cutting through all your blah blah blah..." I grinned cheekily.
"My blah blah blah huh?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Exactly." I replied, licking her chest gently, then kissing where I'd trailed the tip of my tongue. "I like this." I pulled at the waistcoat, dragging it down so I could reach her nipple. She chuckled.
"Well... I have always liked the idea of having you on my desk." She muttered and I looked up, eyes sparkling.
I straightened and kissed her, running my hands through her hair as her fingers trailed gently up the outside of my thighs...
There was a loud knock on the door and then Lexi appeared through.
"Oi! You two. Keep your hands off for a minute so Sam can blow out her candles."
"Fuck you Lexi." Sam groaned.
"You always told me you weren't in to threesomes." She responded, sharp as a whip. "Come on, time for kinky fuckery later. Now is time for candles and cake."
"I hope I ruin sex for you sometime." Sam responded.
"Don't act like you'd started." Lexi grinned, holding the door open for us. "If you had Cara'd be on your desk already."
I stared at between her and Sam open mouthed. Lexi guffawed.
"Holy shit, that's what you were going to do! Oh Cara babe, hold on tight. She had that fantasy twice after the first time she met you. Like, before you'd even kissed."
I raised my eyebrow at Sam who was glaring at Lexi.
"Lexi I swear to god..."
"Lighten up Sam. Now she's got something to keep her going while you play hostess." Lexi winked at me and disappeared. Sam looked at me like she was going to explain but then Lexi yelled at us to hurry up and she just shrugged, grinned, and we went back in to the room.
We crowded around to watch Sam blow out her candles and Anna appeared at my elbow.
"Having fun?" She said suggestively.
"We thought so."
"Don't worry. Just me, Meg, Lexi and Myra. Oh and Liam. Everyone else was distracted."
"Trying to get one of the juggling balls down from the rafters."
I snorted and then joined in the singing of Happy Birthday to Sam. She came over with a slice of cake for me and her.
"Hey Anna. How're things? Getting ready for America?"
"You bet." Anna grinned.
"Good. If you ever get stuck while you're out there I have a few friends... just give me a call yeah?"
"Sure." Anna grinned as Megan appeared with cake. "Thanks."
