I climbed into the taxi with Jak and Ali (awkward much I know, since I had just split up with Ali) and we set off towards the venue that Sam had hired with a very uncomfortable silence hanging in the air. I stared out the window watching the surroundings flit past. It was only when the taxi driver spoke that I was dragged back to the present day.
“That’s six pound in total then” he said as he pulled up on the curb outside, I reached for my bag and pulled out my purse which was sitting at the top and rifled inside, eventually pulling out a two pound coin.
“Oh god, I’ve left my purse at home!” Ali exclaimed frowning and sighing.
“Oh its okay Ali, I have a spare two pound, I’ll pay for you!” Jak said with a smile which Ali returned graciously.
“aww thanks Jak!” Ali said as he took my money, put it with his and handed it to the taxi driver. We all clambered out the car and headed inside. Liam and Callum had beaten the taxi there in the van and was already hard at work unloading the musical instrument from the van onto the stage which was situated up a flight of wooden stairs.
The main exhibition hall was beautiful, very old fashioned in its décor, the walls were painted white with beautiful pieces of art dotted all around some of landscapes and others of very colourful flowers. I was in awe at how beautiful some of the pieces of art were.
“Testing, Testing, One, Two, Three…” Ali’s voice rung out speaking into the microphone, I looked up at the stage to see Ali standing by the wooden railings holding the microphone in one hand.
“Yep that seems to be working” she said smiling as she placed the microphone back in its holder.
“Are we ready for a sound check then? Cara’s voice called out, leaning in the wooden doorframe, Sam standing next to her looking very smart.
“Yeah we can do, everything is set up” Liam said turning up the speakers and grabbing the guitar, Cara grinned broadly before launching herself up the stairs and grabbing the microphone.
“Can we do eternal love for the sound check, its my favourite!” Cara asked, giving Liam an almost seductive look which even he couldn’t refuse.
“Oh okay, we have only done it a million times before but just for you and you owe me” he said cheekily.
“Owe you what? She asked returning Liam’s cheeky grin.
Liam tapped his lips and Cara rolled her eyes at him, “Not on your life mate!” she said, “Now play!”
“Worth a shot,” he joked before starting to play.
This was never the way I planned
Not my intention
I got so brave, hand in hand
Lost my discretion
It's not what, I'm used to
Just wanna try you on
I'm curious for you
Caught my attention
Cara’s voice was so amazing, I couldn’t take my eyes off her while she sang, she had such an attractive voice.
No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter,
You're my experimental game
Just human nature,
It's not what,
Quiet people do
Not how they should behave
My head gets so confused
Hard to obey
I stopped listening to her singing as it was uncovering my feelings for her again, pushing it forward in my mind and I couldn’t let that happen. Instead I turned to Sam who was standing next to me, just as transfixed by Cara as I had been and said, “Anything I can do to help?”
