My eyes fluttered open and the sun shot in, announcing that I'd left the curtains open last night. I slowly became conscious of the breathing next to me, and looked over my shoulder to see Sam's eyes gently closed in sleep. She looked so peaceful. I moved very carefully on to my other side, and stroked a hair from her face. She was incredibly beautiful, and I was content to lie there in that tender contented moment and just watch her. All too soon she woke.
"Hey. What are you doing?" She murmured, blinking as her eyes adjusted to the light.
"Creepy." She smiled, and kissed me. Then her arms wrapped around my waist and she tugged me closer. "It's quiet."
"It's a saturday morning." I pointed out, then glanced over at my clock. "And it's ten past eight."
"Ah I forgot; the lazy student lifestyle."
"The lazy hungover student lifestyle." That brought my thoughts back to last night and the smile dropped from my face. "Oh... Anna."
"What about her?" Sam stretched, sitting up slightly.
"I hope she's ok."
"She'll be sound asleep. Don't worry, Leanne's back soon isn't she?" I nodded. "Well then things will be back to normal in no time."
"Normally." She winked and then pulled off the covers. "I'm going for a run. Want to join me?"
I gave her the running trousers I'd borrowed to come home in the other night and a top, then slipped in to my dance three quarters and my running top.
"Come on then." Sam grinned and we went outside. The sun was shining, and the birds were singing. I could see very few people about. I stretched a little, as did Sam, and then we set off at a casual pace to warm our bodies.
The run lasted about forty-five minutes, and then people started to appear and we found it less enjoyable. We jogged back to the house and when we entered, it was still sleepily quiet.
"I need a shower." Sam laughed, wiping sweat from her brow.
"Attractive." I winked sarcastically and passed her a towel.
"Funny. You go first." She said, handing the towel back.
She nodded and I grinned.
"Ok." I stepped inside the ensuite and pulled off my clothes. Then I turned on the shower and stepped in to the warmth. As I washed away the sweat, the bathroom door opened and Sam came in."What's up?" I asked from the shower.
She didn't reply, but instead shrugged off her clothes and stepped in with me. I grinned.
"Let me." She gestured, taking the shampoo from my fingers and squirting it in to her hands. She started rubbing it in to my head gently, and then turned me around with one hand so she could do the back. I felt myself relaxing as she massaged my head, and ran her fingers through my hair. When she was done I did the same for her, and then she turned and kissed me.
"What are you doing?" I muttered as the water ran over us and covered us in white foam from the shampoo.
"I don't know. It just feels right." She took the shower gel from the little shelf and let the cold liquid spill on the my chest. I shivered slightly, but not from the chill. She began washing me, rubbing the gel in to my skin. I rolled my head back and enjoyed the sensation of her fingers and her hands, and the gel and the water...
"What's for breakfast?" Liam asked as he walked, sniffing, in to the kitchen.
"Whatever you make yourself." I chuckled, concentrating on the toaster in front of me so that I didn't seem to anxious.
"Bacon." He peered in to the pan. "You alright?"
"Back off the bacon. It's mine. Yes why?"
"No reason." He stepped away from the bacon. "You just look a little aggitated is all."
"Just worried about her is all. Jak still asleep?" The toast popped up and I grabbed it, splitting the slices in to pairs of two and putting them on the plates. As I buttered them, Liam aimed for the bacon again. I slapped his hand back and put the bacon on to the bread.
"Yeah he's still sleeping like a baby. Sam?" I span around, almost dropping a plate, and looked at the door. She wasn't there.
"Oh you mean... no she's awake."
"Ok what's up. You're totally jumpy."
"No I'm not." I wrestled down the tweaking corners of my mouth. "See you later!" I hurried back down the corridor and in to my room. "Here you go. One bacon sandwhich."
"Thanks." She moved over and I handed her the plate, shrugging off my dressing gown and joining her. We ate in silence for a while, and only when we'd finished did Sam speak again. "I wish I could spend an entire day with you like this." She looked at our entwined legs as she said it.
"What, exactly like this?"
"Well maybe not naked all of the time," She grinned looking at my body with a cheeky look in her eyes, the one I had grown to love in all manner of ways. "But definitely together, for an entire day, with no one else."
"I'm free tomorrow." I muttered.
"Me too." She grinned and kissed me. "So that's settled. My place?"
"Then you'll have to stay tonight. I want to wake up with you. See if we can do it without getting fed up."
"I'll never be fed up with you." I kissed her reassuringly and smiled.
There was an urgent knock at the door and Liam's voice came through the wood.
"Cara? Anna's not in her room and her phone is under her pillow. I don't know where she is!"
I glanced at Sam, and saw the for the first time, worry was reflected in her eyes too.
"She'd never leave her phone!" I yelled, grabbing my clothes and starting to pull them on. "Something has to have happened." I muttered to Sam anxiously, as she joined me in dressing.
