The blood was pumping through my veins as...

The blood was pumping through my veins as the mass of bone and flesh chased me down the corridor. The thing was jet-black, only visible in the dark hall by the occasional reflection off of its oily skin. I knew I was doomed. A wall dropped from the cieling just in front of me.

"Traaaaaped..." The thing said. I grabbed the knife from my belt. This was my last hurrah, the grand finale. A cat in a corner, and now it's time to bring out the claws. It lunged at me.  I attacked, stabbed it in something like a head. It drew back, lunged lower. I stepped out ofthe way and sliced it along the body. I ran the other way.  It screamed like no other scream, like what would come out of a tornado mixed with a teapot. I ran harder. Everything burned, pain oozing out of every pore, I knew that I'd been poisoned by it by the dizzyness and the nausea, but I had to supress it, I had to run. I found the light. Light! That giver of all things, light! I ran harder, harder, and finally it engulfed me in light and heat, freedom...
