'I can't believe you didn't tell me!' I exclaimed, hugging Alexandria for about the hundredth time that evening.
'You had enough on your mind with Lucas and helping him to get better. I didn't want to burden you with yet another thing,' Alexandria said, blushing slightly.
'I will never understand how your mind works Alex,' I said, shaking my head. 'Being told your best friend is going to get married isn't a burden, it's a celebration. Although I do feel a little left out that you two are going to have big weddings and all I got was a quick ceremony in Lucas's bedroom!'
'But yours is so romantic,' Courtney said. 'Getting married even though you thought Lucas was going to die, that shows how committed you are to each other even when all hope is gone.'
'I suppose, but it is every girl's dream to have a fairytale wedding with a big dress in a church with everyone watching.' I sighed longingly. 'So to make up for it I'm going to help plan your weddings for you!' I clapped my hands excitedly. 'We're going to have so much fun.'
I took hold of one of Courtney's hands and one of Alexandria's and began to spin us round and round like we used to do when we were children, laughing like no one could hear us. I felt like I was flying, spinning faster and faster and nothing was going to bring me down.
But no one can fly forever and as I came back down to reality I remembered the promise I had made to Elizabeth and realised now was the time to act.
'I'd like to talk to you about my first act as your official wedding planner,' I announced when the others had stopped giggling. 'I want Elizabeth to be given something to do in the wedding. It doesn't have to be anything big, I just want her to be involved.'
'Why?' Courtney asked. 'Is it because of the antidote?'
'You know about that?' I exclaimed. 'She told me not to tell anyone about it.'
'Aiden told me when he found me.'
'Then you'll understand why I want to repay her,' I said. 'She saved Lucas's life, I owe her so much for that and what she wants is to fit in. If I can at least try to give her that then part of my debt will be repaid.'
'I understand perfectly,' Alexandria said, clasping my hands in hers and smiling warmly at me.
'I'm sure we'll find something for Elizabeth to do,' Courtney said, taking my other hand.
'You guys are the best,' I said, my heart swelling with love for my two best friends. I felt like I was about to explode with love, for Alexandria and Courtney and for Lucas. Everything was going right.
