"Um... Carter?" I said after five minutes of silence.

"What?" he said with a sigh.

"Why do your friends say you don't like me?"

He didn't say anything to that.

No response.

I waited thirty seconds before asking him again. When he still ignored me, I tapped his shoulder. Possibly a bit hard.

"What?!" he said, sounding irritated. Then the sound of an engine made him turn round.

"No!" he shouted, running after the departing bus. The he turned back to me.

"Great! Now I've missed my bus because of you! You want to know why my friends say I don't like you? Because it's true! I don't like you! All you ever do is yap yap yap about anything. Everyone sees me with you and think I'm weird! And do you know why that is? It's becaus of you! You're an annoying freak! Why can't you leave me alone?!!!"

I tipped my head to the side and looked at him.

"You don't mean that. I know you don't. Because I can tell that deep down you are a kind soul, Carter. And that's why I love you."

The End
