Leaves rustling, owls hooting and fireflies flickering. The scene was set for the Stanford Drama Society's Gala Event. The spectacular fog-lights had been switched off to accentuate the starkness of the setting.
It was a tragic scene of farewell. The actors were in fact estranged lovers, adding to the heavy tension in the air. The audience was seated some way off and the crew had moved to sit with them since this was the final act.
And then suddenly from the darkness erupted a flaming figure. It was the heroine. Her screams were reverberating through the entire theater and people scrambled to the stage to reach her.
When the drama mellowed and the paramedics had gone, the actor was seen playing with his Limited-Edition Zippo.
