Faye felt the portal’s presence before she saw it. It pulled at her, begging her to find it. But if she stepped through, would she be welcomed? She had not left under the best of circumstances. Pushing back branches and brambles she moved towards it, undecided.
It shimmered orange in the evening light. Faye had run away to this other realm. Now she was tired and she missed her fiancé, the reason she’d run. Would he welcome her?
“Rawleigh!” she jumped back as someone appeared before her.
“Please come home Faye,” her fiancé beseeched, arms out stretched.
She embraced him.
