Be brave as you set out into the wilderness of words. Even as strings of grammar pull and tug upon your every sentence, even as characters plot conspiracies to overthrow you, and even as the letters begin to jumble and the rhythm to falter, just remember that inspiration is the sun behind a cloud.

And be true to your soul from where your strength of writing originates. Do not stretch out into the external mind games of the tongue twisters where clichés riddle your verses with pre-made phrases that tempt you with thesaurus collages of flattened magazine characters cut with shiny scissors sharpened by another. That is, let go and write. It is simple. And it is a challenge.

Write from the heart, write with passion, write for grace, for love, for peace. Write with the beauty of your spirit directly behind your every word. Write as a gift of laughter, write for the noble tear of your fellow reader, write to capture that which was lost. Write your memories and write your future, write as a teacher, a student, for your right to be human.

We all have beautiful minds. Words flutter naturally from us all. It is only direction and purpose that sets us apart. We all feel the deep meaning that moves within us, but it is a true writer who can light their words with this inner truth. Reach down for what is real and create that which has never existed before.

Tame the words that come from the wild mystery of life, and place them humbly on the page. And you will soon find that the joy of writing grows with every day.
