Twice married, with a son from current relationship - there, that's the personal biz out of the way.
Have been writing seriously for 10+ years. Started out writing scenarios and location descriptions for an RPG which never took off. Noticed that the cut-scenes I was writing were getting longer and longer, and I actually really enjoyed writing them. Had played about with the idea of writing stories before, but never actually got further than a few pages at best.
Then one day I came up with an idea for an epic yarn, played about with it in my head, sat down and started to write my first novel - a monstrous first draft of over 220,000 words which after several more drafts ended up at 180,000 words at final count.
- and its the first book in a proposed trilogy!
Since then, I've written several short stories (one, 'Puppet Daddy', claiming the elusive Cherry award from ABCTales.com) and another novel, 'Smalltown' (not part of the trilogy-in-progress).
I have also recently written a couple of rhyming kids stories, 'Frog on the Log' and 'The Dog Express from Mexico' - I like to test myself working in different areas/genres.
My debut entitled 'Tide of Endings' was a blend of action thriller and science-fiction/fantasy - I like to mix it up a bit sometimes.
'Smalltown' is a rural thiller/who-done-it kind of affair with no fantasy elements, but perhaps a smattering of Stephen King-esque creepy coincidence, hopefully blurring the lines of reality just enough to keep it fun.
I've been thinking recently about re-visiting TOE in order to hack it down into a more manageable and marketable size - mainly because I'm burning to crack on with the two sequels (already fully fleshed out in my head and my notes).
Works currently in progress are:
Bunniez with Tommyguns (working title)
The Loss of Mary Evie
Tenament
Mark of the Dragon / Red Harvest (TOE pts 2 & 3)
Salt!
When Roy Saved Christmas
