Mainly what I'm posting is creative writing exercises, unedited.

I'm an absolute beginner and just trying to get the juices flowing!

A novella is a written, fictional, prose narrative longer than a novelette but shorter than a novel. The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Nebula Awards for science fiction define the novella as having a word count between 17,500 and 40,000. (Thats from wikipedia)

Back when i joined in 2008 i could barely string a few hundred words together and now Taking the Temperature is around 14,000 words!  Its a novellette approaching a Novella!  I am actually quite proud of myself, considering I have a self destructive instict to sabotage anything I do thats creative. 

I am still very inexperienced and I really want to get better so I'd love some feedback, i don't care if it's critical.
