James Christopher Bent studied English Literature and Creative Studies at the University of Portsmouth, UK, graduating in 2002. Since then, he has lived, worked and traveled across North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. During the years 2003/04, he worked alongside his father, Artist Blacksmith Richard Bent (http://richardbentblacksmith.co.uk) then as a freelance artist, sculptor and blacksmith in Dunedin, New Zealand. For the last four years, he has worked in senior and lead business writing roles, including writing key strategy and learning programs. He has a keen interest in American, Japanese and European literature, including Haruki Murakami, Kobo Abe, Boris Vian, Raymond Queneau, Raymond Carver, Angela Carter, John Fante and Charles Bukowski. He has also visited many of the world's Modern art galleries and admires the work of Picasso, Mondrian, Fontano, Hepworth, Duchamp and Moore.
