I'm A Business Systems Analyst by profession, living in Vancouver, and am a wannabe/newbie writer.
I used to read quite a bit when in school. My reading habits dipped over the years, but I've caught up on my fiction over the last few months since I started to take the transit to work!
All the reading lately made me want to write, but I kept procrastinating. After stumbling on this site, I now find myself protagonizing! After staring at a blank screen all these days, the number of stories popping in this site have made me come out of my shell!
It's hard to pick a single favourite author as I've been reading whatever I can get my hands on. Still, I have a preference towards Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, David Baldacci, Ken Follett, Jeffrey Archer, Paulo Coelho and Robert Ludlum to name a few.
Recently enjoyed:
The Alchemist - by Paulo Coelho
Time Traveler’s Wife – by Audrey Niffenegger
The Memory Keeper's Daughter - by Kim Edwards
Next - by Michael Crichton
Simple Genius - by David Baldacci
Currently reading:
Pillars of the Earth - by Ken Follett
The Witch of Portobello - by Paulo Coelho
Look forward to protagonizing with a lot of people here!
Ahh, I love making mysterious comments in various spots on the site. As for allowing for single-author stories... well, it's something people have asked for, and I think it could be pretty neat (plus, it would stop people from posting 15 chapters in a row in a story without having a reason for it.)
It'll happen sooner or later... :)"
Hopefully the May weather in YVR will improve by the time I get back on Thursday.. :p"
If it was spelled differently, it wouldn't be pronounced as it is. When its spelled all as one word its pronounced "New-fin-land" but if it was two words, it wouldn't be able to pronounced that way. That's about the best answer I can provide.
I guess John Cabot was just a weird guy!"
...unfortunately, my eyes are terribly disagreeable and refuse to see it most of the time :P"
Should make any kind of ballot stuffing (be it good or bad) less noticeable."
Glad to see other Vancity-dwellers on here!
No communal area as of yet, but I'm working on a groups / writing circles feature (see the Protagonize blog, I posted some stuff about it a few weeks back) that should allow for a bit more of a group conversation type of feel. I purposefully didn't put message boards on the site because that's really not the goal here, but I see the value in generating conversations aside from on stories and on author profiles.. hopefully the groups / circles feature will help that out a bit."
