"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. King James Bible Psalm 23:4"

N.B: Yes, the girl in the picture is me, and yes, I'm dressed as an elf :P

2/2/2013 - I've been doing some more work recently on To Love the Blade, but very busy at the moment. Also been suckered in by roleplaying and such... whoops!

To Love the Blade - Nano' 2011

There is one thing I would like to make clear before I begin. I am absolutely barmy. You have been warned.

salvete, gente! I hope you enjoy my work! I'm online quite a lot of the time, so come and chat. Ratings/comments are appreciated.

xkatieshepherd and I placed third in the Summer SPC, which we are both ecstatic about. The next time it's announced, I urge you to do it, it's great fun. Thanks to Elorithryn for running this one.

The correlation between listening to Chopin before bed and having a strange dream = positive.

I love to write, as it's a way of dealing with bottled up emotion and provides a sense of self-worth.

When it comes to music, my favourite bands include 'Paramore', '30 Seconds to Mars', 'Muse' and 'My Chemical Romance.' However, I also love classical music - It's amazing to write while listening to Chopin's 'Barcarolle in F Sharp', Samuel Barber's 'Adagio for Strings' or Allegri's 'Miserere mei, deus.'

While the idea of Latin is fresh in my mind, my username includes the feminine nominative singular form of the word for 'soul' or 'mind'. I chose this username as it reflects the fact that I am grossly susceptible to writer's block... *shudders* However, since joining this site, I have found writer's block to be an easier opponent to vanquish.

I am a Christian - just thought that I'd throw that in there.

Naturally for someone who is in love with words, I enjoy reading books. Among some of my favourites are;

  • 'Time Stops for No Mouse'  by Michael Hoeye.
  • 'The Red Necklace/The Silver Blade' by Sally Gardner.
  • 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde.
  • 'Tess of the d'Urbevilles' by Thomas Hardy.
  • 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusack.
  • 'The Iliad' by Homer. Kassandra is the best mythological character EVER.
  • The Princess Bride (The Good Parts Version) by William Goldman
  • The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Currently reading: Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien

A confession; I spend far too much time by myself. I would consider myself to be a geek/nerd. And I love it.

Another confession: I play way too many RPGs than can be good for me. For MMORPG nerds, you'll find me on Lord of the Rings Online, on the Laurelin RP server. I am an officer in an Elven kinship, the Blades of Twilight.

Other games deserving special mentions -

  • The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim - I'm obsessed!
  • Dragon Age: Origins (Mac)  - Emotional storytelling, great music, fantastic gameplay - like an interactive collaborative fantasy novel!
  • Final Fantasies 7 and 10 - awesome!
  • Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (Wii) - the only first game that could lay claim to the title of 'Games That Made emptyanima Cry'.
  • Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS) - I've spent countless hours on this. I regret nothing.

All of my wonderful sisters are on Protagonize too. They are;

WackyWeasel (my twin sister)

Inspirablurr (my 12 year old sister)

Tabby009 (my 10 year old sister)

If you seek entertainment, some of my own work which I would recommend to you includes;

The Wingless Angel (story, finished, undergone editing.)

Teen fiction about a girl who has an interesting circle of friends.

The Mercyship Incident (story, complete, undergone editing.)

International espionage plus sci-fi equals 'The Mercyship Incident.'

You can read my poetry if you like. You may rather gouge out your own eyes with a teaspoon, I wouldn't blame you. Here's the link to my solo poetry if you really want to see it.

Versification - emptyanima's Poetry Anthology (poem, in progress)

The Battle for Aeridia  A fantasy epic with lots of magic, unfinished. I am writing the role of Aven, a character I created in a previous collab (which unfortunately died) so I'm very glad to be in her shoes again. With ChinkyCat, Drinibini, genie72, owen and WackyWeasel.

Shadow Paw - with Fitzy and iamkathybrown13. Unfinished. I'm Verity Moon.

The Trinity of Neverwinter - with Drinibini and Jameson - fantasy game fanfic. I'm Rebekah McAvoy.

Collabs started by others:

Invited - mature (with Drinibini, WackyWeasel and ChinkyCat - my first male role! Finished) Erik was me. :)

Lost and Found mature (with TheRosesBloom, xkatieshepherd, and ty694) I'm Freya Chambers.

http://www.protagonize.com/story/storms-reflection - with Nosirrah, Colm, chimerakiller2 and Elf. A fantasy story with danger, blood and a strange prophecy. I'm Lady Daphne L'Orion.

All links open a new page.

I have a few close Protag friendlings, many of whom I have had the pleasure of collaborating with. Among these special people are;

ChinkyCat (wonderful descriptions, engaging plot lines... and she's German! Try 'Mystic Four' or 'Destiny')

WackyWeasel (I know it's biased, but she's wonderful. Check out her Lara Croft fan fiction, it's amazing. Start with 'Return to Avalon')

genie72 (great voice, great humour. If you've had a bad day, a great pick me up. Read 'Blue Fire'.)

Inspirablurr (again, biased, but she deserves it. She's twelve. I would recommend 'Memoirs of the Future' )

Drinibini (indulgent, well written fiction. Akin to eating Galaxy bars late at night while watching 'Lord of the Rings.' Wait, who does that? Oh, right, me. Try 'Original Sin')

RouxEdwards (a wonderful little wordsmith, although she doesn't always believe it. Obsessed with imaginary biscuits. Read 'Living Without the Lights On')

xkatieshepherd (a very talented writer with a very emotional style. She is excellent in collaboratives (see Lost and Found) and when I have read one of her solos I'll be sure to recommend one of those as well.)

I haven't got space for everyone I admire here, so I'll give you a few usernames to check out;

If you read this from the beginning, you're a wonderful person.

My fondest valedictory,

~ emptyanima
