"There's a crack in everything: that's how the light gets in."

Cabbages are easily grown under a wide variety of conditions.

I wish the same could be said of my stories! For the most part, my work is really a fragmentary collection of images and ideas - lovingly saved in a battered old shoe box, hidden under the debris of a life lived in haste, with never enough time to give each of my treasures the attention it deserves. Yet I am unwilling to relinquish them, unable to abandon them to the cold dark waste of the bin.

And so I have decided that 2012 will be a year for writing; for taking the time to hold my words up to the light, and to polish them for all they are worth. I will make peace this way: it will soon become clear which pieces are worth holding onto, and which pieces I can in good conscience wrap up in origami paper and give away to a white elephant stall.

Please do give me constructive feedback about my writing - your insight will help to improve my work. It's all too easy for me to overlook inconsistencies that would be obvious to an objective reader. That's where I need your help.

In return, I will read your work when I can, and give you honest feedback. I'll likely be short in my comments, even bordering on rude. But please know that I mean no offence: if I'm tough with your work, it's about the work, not you. And if I didn't think your ego was bold enough to take it, I would keep my critique to myself.

I hope that being on Protagonize will challenge me, and help me to grow my writing, until I can be cabbage proud of it!
