"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx

Benjamin F. Jackson is a father, a student, a teacher, publishing professional, beardy, a martial artist, too damned handsome for his own good, and a writer of words.

A native of southern New Hampshire, Ben had very little trouble in which to get – not to say that he found none, exactly – so he often found himself reading about people who did find trouble and adventures, and before long he was imagining stories of his own. After a brief  accidental hitch in the Navy Reserves, he blew his meager GI bill on part of a music education.  Upon realizing that he wasn’t all that good a musician, he got on with real life.

Ben’s daughter Emma was born in 2001, and things changed. She spent nearly a year in the hospital, and much of that year was near death. In those terrifying days, Ben learned all about being an adult, and also found his first real story.  You can read some of that on his blog: Dad of the Decade.

Ben now spends his days working in marketing in the publishing world, dadding, studying Shaolin Kempo Karate and teaching the same to smaller people, and finishing a degree in creative writing at Southern New Hampshire University.  In his copious free time, he submits short stories to journals in the hope he can con someone into publishing him. You can find links to his successes at
