"1) “You don’t love somebody because of their looks or their clothes or their car. You love them because they sing a song that nobody but you can understand.” Night World: Secret Vampire (L. J. Smith) 2) "The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears" (Laurel Burch) 3) "Can you imagine that love?" ('Beastly')"

My new favourite word is "Héautontimorouménos". :L

So, I thought it was time for a profile re-vamp! Don't you worry: I don't associate this change with a major change in my life/ personality - I'm just as crazy as I've always been, which may be good or bad depending on how you look at it. :D

Things I love/ am interested in:

Languages (especially French), including English (an etymology dictionary was one of my favourite Christmas presents one year)

Grammar. I guess this could come under languages, but languages might make you think of the actual means of communication rather than the way they're put together. I love conjugating verbs and I even have a favourite tense in French (the Perfect, in case you were wondering - there are so many things to consider when you're forming it)

Maths. Yup, you can tell who was the school lover. I love algebra in particular. I think I'm going to miss Maths when I start university, since my course is French and Linguistics. :/

Writing (including in French). Yeah, well, that one was a bit of a no-brainer. This is a writing site. :L I love writing poetry and stories. The stories don't get finished as often as I would like them to (though I have completed some) but poems are satisfying in how they can convey a lot of emotion or ideas despite their tendency to be shorter. My favourite moments in writing are the scenes which are beautiful and/ or romantic, and/ or contain a piece of imagery that I'm particularly proud of.

Reading. I attribute any skill that people say I have in writing to the fact that I have always adored reading. Currently, my favourite fiction genres are fantasy and romance. :)

Logic Problems. :O 'Who is this strange girl?' :L Yeah, I like doing logic problems. My favourite are the box ones where you're given several clues and then have to fill in ticks and crosses accordingly (they feature predominantly in a series of publications called 'Logic problems' which I usually buy from WH Smith), and a type of puzzle called a Hanjie puzzle. Sudoku problems were the first logic puzzles I probably did and I still enjoy those too. :)

Cats. Lynxes, tigers, Turkish Vans... (okay, those have only been a recent obsession because there was one in a story idea I had; my favourite breed of domesticated cat would probably be a Persian or a tabby - because I had a tabby for sixteen years of my life)... Cats are my favourite animal. I just love them.

Music. I find it fascinating how music has the power to move us and I love how you can just sit and listen to music and be absorbed into it. I'm into a wide variety of genres. My most played songs on iTunes (though this might be related to how long I've owned those tracks as well as to how much I like them) are (in order from highest to lowest) Leave Out All The Rest (Linkin Park), Decode (Paramore), What I've Done (also Linkin Park), Love etc (Pet Shop Boys) and Bella's Lullaby from Twilight (composed by Carter Burwell). :)

Equality and fair treatment of everybody on this planet. I'm a passionate believer that no one should be discriminated against or stopped from what they want to do (as long as it's lawful, of course) because of something petty like race, gender or sexuality. We're all human, we're all sharing this world; let's stop being silly. I'm the type of person who is encouraged by the publication of kids' books with homosexual characters and depressed by articles in newspapers saying that a group of people tried to hand out leaflets saying that capital punishment should be re-introduced and used where a person is homosexual. I'm also into left-wing politics because we have a responsibility towards the poor people in society as their fellow citizens if nothing else. I'm into feminism and when you think about the fact that feminism means a belief in the equality of men and women, everyone should be a feminist. Finally, I think that the fairest type of job application form would be one with just your name and CV, with no mention of your race or your gender, because then there would be no way to discriminate, and people would only be employed on the basis of whether they were right for the job.

So, there you go. You now know more about me than you probably needed to. :L I'll leave you with some Keane lyrics (I don't know how I managed to forget my favourite band when talking about music...):

"Some days set your world on fire, and some days, they sink like stones. That's when your heart will cry out, till your body is numb, and the night will try to tempt you but the day will come" (Day Will Come)

"Like beautiful dawn, all made up and bright, radiant people in splintering light. All moving at the speed of light, reflecting in each other's eyes..." (You Don't See Me)

"Winter's hand will freeze your heart again; doors will close, no time to start again. Nothing is given except the ties that hold us together. Lay down your load, because every day it's gonna grow..." (You are Young)

"This could be the end of everything, so why don't we go somewhere only we know?"

P.S. A mention to a pretend adoptive big brother (decided in a conversation we had over msn :D)
