"That which is not slightly distorted lacks sensible appeal: from which it follows that irregularity - that is to say, the unexpected, surprise and astonishment, are an essential part and characteristic of beauty." - Charles Beaudelaire, Intimate Journals I occasionally write feature-length screenplays. I like writing adaptations. I like having boundaries within which to work. I am attempting to branch out into writing adaptations of computer games as too many good ones go unnoticed or are dimissed as simply 'games'. To those people, I say "go and play Bioshock", or "go and play Oblivion". My favourite writers for the screen are Paul Schrader, Darren Aronofsky, Andrew Kevin Walker, Shane Salerno (mainly his editorial work), Tom Fontana, David Simon, Vince Gilligan, and John Swartwelder. My favourite writers are Henry Rollins, Iain Banks, Neil Gaiman, Charlie Brooker and Stephen King. Oh, and the likes of Dawkins, Gleick, Crowley, and Pratchett/Stewart/Cohen for more, ahem, philosophical work.
