Hngh...
I have absolutely no idea whatsoever on what to say, about me, about my life, about my activities, about life in general, or the like. But that has really never stopped me before, so here I go:
I'm Wally, but all my friends call me Wally, and others know me as Wally as well, but you? You can just call me... Yes, you guessed it, Wally. I do, however, answer to a variety of nicknames, the politest one being 'bastard', but that's another story for another day.
I'm, for the most part, a gamer. I've played games just about my entire life. From little army men and action figures when I was but a sprat, to video games and computer games. I'm rather decent at first person shooter games, but my skill lies in games that put an emphasis on strategy and empire building. For this reason, my favorite game franchise would have to be Total War. However, I do love the Fire Emblem games as well, especially Path of Radiance and Shadow Dragon.
I'm also pretty into books and movies. In fact, my absolute favorite book has got to be, without a question... Frank Herbert's Dune. It is a tale that has no equal, as far as I'm concerned. If there was but one thing I would wish to achieve in my life time, it would be to be as great a writer as Mr. Herbert. As for movies, I love Boondock Saints, Fight Club, and Scarface the most, so you may see me quoting those movies a fair bit. To be honest, you'll probably see me quoting just about everything from books to movies to games. I'm very big on using pop culture references.
If there was one defining thing about me, I would have to say that it would be my love for comedy. Humor is how I deal with the nuances of Life, it is my greatest weapon, my greatest ally. There is absolutely nothing that I could not find any humor in, and this... Unfortunately, is a major problem because people will persist on being serious and gloomy. No one seems willing to understand the fact that my rapier wit is on automatic, that I am powerless to stop it, that there is no force on Earth that could stop me from blurting out something funny, even at dreary occasions. There is a reason why I haven't gone to funerals for the last four years, after all. None of them want me around. They think it's disrespectful.
Lewis Black is my absolute favorite, the man speaks his damn mind. I admire King Alexander the Great, Imperator Augustus Caesar, and General William T. Sherman. Finally, Napoleon Bonaparte is my hero.
Ahem.
For the most part, I joined this site because a dear friend of mine, Arwym, invited me. I was actually working on a story but I've decided to put it on hold for the time being. Mostly because I have other projects to see to first. So, in lieu of stories, I will be putting in considerable work on world building: Everything from races and countries to technology and culture and bestiary, all the way to the most minute of details. It's all part of a project much larger than any one man could handle, but all the same, it's a project I deeply love because it's about a fantasy world that introduced me to another world - That of role playing.
Hence, much of my works, from lore to short stories to characters, will be, for the most part, based in the world of Valator. It should be stated that Valator is not a world of my creation. Rather, the original creator, due to his own time constraints, has charged me with the task of breathing new life into Valator, to reimage everything within that world, to bring the new and unique to the old and generic, to remake it into a true world that is such a joy to play in.
That, and I owe Valator a hefty debt, and it's my way of thanking Valator for enriching my life and introducing me to so many of my current friends, may they all rot in hell!
I suppose that's all for now. Looking forward to meeting everyone here and having my works critiqued.
G'day!
