The fractal nature of reality

I am a sometimes writer with a propensity for editing my works to death until I lose all desire to continue. This format appealed to me since I would be unable to edit after 24 hours so the stories can move forward.
I used to draw maps all the time and have found that is one of the reasons I love fantasy. I find it irritating when fantasy books don't have a map to act as an interesting story supplement. Believe it or not, one of my favorite books is an atlas.
In addition to Fantasy, I am also a big fan of Historical Fiction, Science fiction, and plain old good yards (classics or otherwise). Some of my favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, Guy Gavriel Kay, Steven Erikson, Richard Morgan, and Heinlein.
I don't watch TV much but I consider myself somewhat of a movie buff. I enjoy movies of all genres, though I lean towards action movies if I am watching it on a big screen. I love epic scenes such as those found in Braveheart and Avatar. My favourite scene in a movie is from Sense and Sensibility when Eleanor finds out that Edward is not married; I cry every time.
I am also a bit of a hockey nut (Go OILERS!!) and can be pulled into a conversation about it with ease. One of my most poignant memories was leaving the Dallas Edmonton playoff game when they were down 3-0 with 5 minutes to go and missing the comeback in the 1997 playoffs. I left the game and went accross the street to the pub and watched the remainder on the big screen there. I remember when they scored the winning OT goal I danced around in a circle hugging the big smelly total stranger and loving every minute of it. man I love hockey.
Don't let all that sports nut stuff fool you though. I am pretty "artsy" in my leanings. I have a love of music (performing and listening) that runs deep and deeper the older I get. I haven't performed in over a decade (since I had kids), but I miss it.
I own a bookstore on Vancouver Island called Bucknucks. It is in a little mall called Valleyview Centre and I am surrounded by books and muses indoors, and I only have to step out of my shop to get a view of mountains and trees. I love it.
I welcome all additions to any story that I make - don't be shy. It's more fun the more people who show interest so if you feel like you might want to jump on one of my literary boats, please do so.
If there is something that could be improved in my writing please comment. I welcome any criticism since I only want to get better. I have a novel on the go and my dream is to be published someday.
"Society is, always has been and always will be a structure for the exploitation and oppression of the majority through systems of political force dictated by an élite, enforced by thugs, uniformed or not, and upheld by a willful ignorance and stupidity on the part of the very majority whom the system oppresses" - Richard Morgan.

"a collection of letters we'd like to write, have fun, be snide, be silly, be candid, act dumbfounded, make'em feel stupid, make'em feel smart, be persuasive...say anything...I just ask not be angry. Cuz that's boring."
