Hello there!
I'm Briony.
I'm a brown-eyed girl from Nottingham who has just finished studying English at the University of Birmingham.
I love to write and I have ever since I was little. Whatever form it may be I've written one sort (albeit terribly) at some point in my life. I grew up scribbling stories and even tried to pen my own language at one stage (Tolkien eat your heart out) so I've always had an interest in language. I am rather a messy writer, as I tend to get carried away in the vivid images and wild ideas causing my prose to be somewhat unrefined - but I'm working on it!
Authors/Poets I admire:
Sylvia Plath - Iain Banks - Mark Haddon - Charlotte Bronte - George Gordon - Garth Nix - Jane Austen- John Keats - D.H. Laurence - Umberto Eco - Thomas Mann - Alexander Pope
My guilty pleasure is fantasy. I read His Dark Materials when I was ten and from then I was hooked. Some of my favourite writers of fantasy/adventure stories are Lian Hearn, Garth Nix and Catherine Fisher. If you're a fan of the genre I highly recommend them!
I am a big comedy fan - sit-coms, sketch shows (Flight of the Conchords, Early Boosh, Python) and particularly live stand-up i.e. Eddie Izzard, Jason Manford, Tim Minchin etc.
My taste in music is pretty eclectic I'd say. I like blues, acoustic, classical, indie, rock, drum and bass. Anything that moves me, happy or sad, is worth listening to.
I like variety and change, it keeps me excited in things.
I have a few mini-projects on the go at the moment, and if you get a chance I would be eternally grateful if you could check out my new and ever expanding poetry collection;
It's more absurdist than any poetry I've written before but I feel in my element with it, so if you have any feedback whatsoever that would be marvelous.
Also currently neglected prose BUT will be returned to eventually:
Bella: Princess of Parallelograms
A collaborative story I'm writing with Elorithryn and Hummingbird about a young woman's suicide and two other character's mission to prevent it, well worth checking out:
"'But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.' - Umberto Eco"

Sorry, there are no top rated works this week!
"this is a collaberative thingy-magigy where i thought everyone interested in poetry, or just wanting to give it a go could write a rememberance day poem. It doesnt matter if you are absolutely rubbish or studying shakespere at uni, just give it a go. It can be short or long, whatever, as long as it has something to do with rememberance day. I just thought it would be a great way to show our respect to those who died to keep our contries free. (im english, so mine is focoused around england, but"
"Poems about love, and the lack thereof."
"Tickled up some poetical Popsicles that lack that silly grump called sense? Feel like licking the stale of your typing fingers and giving nonsense a try? You're in the write place!"
